This month in the meta: great news from Fortnite, Sony and Riot, but even worse news from Bethesda and Blizzard.
While this month had some great news – like Fortnite’s Chapter 2 (TheVerge.com), Sony dropping the price of PlayStation Now (USAToday.com), Riot announcing five new games (CNN.com), the release of Untitled Goose Game (Vox.com), and Halloween video game events (Kotaku.com) – the meta was shocked by a high-profile progamer ban and the high price of Fallout 76’s premium subscription.
Bethesda released Fallout 1st, an expensive subscription to Fallout 76 with coveted perks which led to pandemonium among Fallout fans (TheDailyBeast.com) and speculation of a meta game (ExtremeTech.com).
After banning Chung “blitzchung” Ng Wai from a Heathstone compention (TheVerge.com), Blizzard has been embroiled in a PR nightmare (TheVerge.com) while struggling to promote the upcoming BlizzCon (LATimes.com) which was already under criticism due to a disappointing BlizzCon 2018 (Kotaku.com).
But Blizzard is not alone as Google, Apple and the NBA have also come under fire for their own China-inspired bans (TheWrap.com).
